The only child of Edward, duke of Kent, she succeeded her uncle, William IV, in 1837. Victoria married Albert Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha, son of Erest I Anton Karl Ludwig Herzog von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha and Luise Pauline Charlotte Friedrike Auguste Prinzessin von Sachen-Gotha-Altenburg, on 10 Feb 1840 in St James's Palace, Chapel Royal, St. James's, London, England.
