UK, De Ruvigny's Roll of Homour: Mulrooney, Thomas Martin, A.B. No. 195499. Son of the late Edward A. Mulrooney of Gorport, R.M.L.I. Pensioner, by his wife Charlotte, Born Gosport, Hampshire, 21 April 1881. Education St John's School, Gosport. Joined the Navy in 1894, Served on H.M.S Vernon, H.M.S Thetes, H.M.S. Hercules, H.M.S Good Hope, in which he went to South Africawith Sir Percy Scott, also on H.M.S Princess irene and was lost 27 May 1915, when that ship was blown up in Sheerness Harbour. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in 1912. He married at Sherfield English Church near Romsey 19 Dec 1904, Alice Mary (15 Ann's Hill, Gosport) Daughter of William Terry of Romsey and had 3 Sons - Charles Victor, b. 18 May 1909 - Alexander Edmund, b. 24 Oct 1910 and William Martin b. 3 May 1912.

In May 1915, Princess Irene was moored in Saltpan Reach, on the Medway Estuary in Kent between Port Victoria and Sheerness, being loaded with mines in preparation for deployment on a minelaying mission. At 11:14 GMT on 27 May, Princess Irene exploded and disintegrated.
